7 Food Trucks Worth Tracking Down This Summer

Houston may have pulled up to the food truck party late, but we did so full throttle. The national trend hit our streets in 2009, and we eagerly welcomed the street food phenomenon. These kitchen-equipped trucks serve up awesome takeout at prices that would make used car salesmen jealous. Although many owners and drivers use their automobiles to gauge a neighborhood’s culinary preferences and interests before opening brick-and-mortar outposts, others are in the business for good. You can still find the trucks that started it all posted up at popular hangouts. You'll find them on random street corners at lunch, camped out on the edge of local farmers markets each week and parked strategically between the nightclub and your car at 2 a.m.. Follow these seven favorites on Twitter to see when they are headed your way, or Tweet at them directly for their coordinates when you have an appetite for the chase.

Bernie's Burger Bus: Talk about old school. Bernie's Burger Bus is a newfangled take on the classic American hamburger. Everything is made from scratch using all natural Black Angus. And each burger has a school-based personality, from "The Principal" with bread-and-butter pickles and garlic roasted tomatoes (electives include bacon and Texas cheddar) to "The Kindergartners" two mini-burgers with bleu cheese and Applewood smoked bacon. The hand-cut fries are served with an aioli that's pretty spectacular. @BerniesBurgers

H-Town StrEATs:Wanting to hit the strEATs for some great food? Look no further, this food truck's expansive menu can make everybody happy. H-Town StrEATs hascreated a one of a kind menu with foods ranging from risotto balls to the short rib mac n cheese grilled cheese to a chocolate chip peanut butter pretzel cookie. The Waffle Bus:Don't expect a plain waffle from this food truck. With savory smoked salmon waffles and sweet Nutella and banana waffles, The Waffle Bus turns a classic breakfast food into a delicious gourmet dish to be enjoyed at any time of day. @TheWaffleBus

Happy Endings: This food truck's name is misleading, with juicy hot dogs and fluffy buns, you will be happy from the second you start eating. Happy Endings takes the American hot dog and tops it with international flavors from kimchi to queso. With new addition Taco Baos, Happy Endings is infusing more Asian flavors into this already worldly truck. @happyendingsHTX

Coreanos: This food trucks sells "Mexican cuisine with Korean in between" -- which we just established is something Houstonians like, like two seconds ago. But if you’re still not sure what that means, it means your tacos, burritos, and fries will have will have things like twice-cooked BBQ pork, kimchi, and "el scorcho" sauce on them. @coreanoshtx

Foreign Policy: Three words: Donut. Bacon. Cheeseburger. @foreignpolicytx

SMOOSH COOKIES:Delicious homemade, fresh baked cookies, premium ice cream and crazy toppings will create that one of a kind ice cream cookie sandwich. This unique combination will literally be a party in your mouth! @smooshcookies
