Crawfish season is in full swing and there is no shortage of spots to pick from. There are plenty of places that offer the traditional style of blended spices but there is a new wave of cooking that has given certain hot spots a run for their money. Chinatown, over by the Bellaire and beltway area, boasts some of the best places to eat crawfish. They all blend the traditional spices with a touch of Asian flare. Definitely not your typical way of eating mud bugs, but this style of cooking has become very popular. Here are some of the best places in the Chinatown district:
Wild Cajun- This place has a little bit of everything. Sushi, turkey necks (seasoned better than your grandma’s), traditional Vietnamese food and of course boiled seafood. The open atmosphere makes for a great time with a large group of friends. They have some of the best crawfish because they use their secret garlic butter recipe. It’s not like any other place I’ve tried and the garlic butter is pretty much is on everything that’s boiled!

La Crawfish – Clearly they have mastered the art of the mudbug. New locations are popping up left and right and it’s no surprise. This is a great spot for the Viet-Cajun fusion of cooking. Think crawfish pho. They also have a crawfish curry dish that is must try. This interesting menu will definitely keep you coming back for more
Crawfish & Beignets– The name could be deceiving because they don’t really serve beignets! Located in the Hong Kong mall, this hidden gem is a great spot and has the best pricing in town. They aren't stingy with the portioning either, which makes it great for your tummy and pockets!

88 Boiling Crawfish- Locals love this place because of their namesake 88 spicy sauce. If you have time to spare, this is worth checking out. Its rather small inside so it can fill up quickly. Totally worth the wait!
