The new H-E-B superstore at 5895 San Felipe is barely open for business — the doors opened Feb. 18 — but already the new Table 57 restaurant nestled inside the market is making its mark on the neighborhood.
The 91,000-square-foot store is sparkly and shiny, but the restaurant stands apart from other similar stores in the popular Texas supermarket chain with the addition of Allen Duhon, the eatery’s full-time executive chef. Not only that, Table 57’s menu was developed by Randy Evans, a well-known Houston chef.
Diners will be treated to food developed by one of the best chefs in the Bayou City while enjoying a wine and beer bar and live music. What’s more, parents are welcome to let their kids hang out in the restaurant’s play area as they kick back and relax.
Daily offerings include a myriad of choices such as soups, cold and hot sandwiches, fried oyster tostadas, tail-meat-only lobster rolls, yellowfin tuna with kale and cannellini bean Tuscan salad, prime beef “umami” burgers, daily “butcher’s cut” grilled beef selections, grilled salmon on hot soba noodles and a full offering of Central Texas-style smoked meats.
Table 57 is open every day for dining and drinks from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, with brunch service until 2 p.m.
