This year, Art Colony Association, Inc. will celebrate 45 years of fine art as it spotlights more than 350 artists during its annual Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park, April 29 - May 1. With an adoration of animals and spunky, colorful paintings, April Murphy, a local Houstonian, will serve as the featured artist. Festival patrons will enjoy a vibrant walk through Memorial Park as they take in the sights of artwork from 19 different disciplines and enjoy an array of delicious, local foods.
Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA) recently announced executive changes within the staff. Bridget Anderson joined ACA as the executive director, with more than 25 years of professional fundraising experience and a degree in the arts. Anderson hopes her training can help the Bayou City Art Festival continue to achieve national recognition as one of top outdoor festivals in the country.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Bayou City Art Festival. I’m excited about what’s ahead in the 45th year of spotlighting talented artists, with a dedicated staff and thousands of art lovers,” said Anderson. “As I oversee all aspects of the organization, it’s important to me to cultivate both new and tenured relationships so we can continue to bring exceptional art to the Houston community.”
In addition to the new executive director, ACA welcomes new board president, Michael Piana, owner of a business consulting firm and an art enthusiast who has served as a board member for the past 18 years. Piana provides guidance to the board with his 40 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurial executive management and is looking forward to his new role.
“What an honor to serve as the board president during Art Colony Association’s 45th year anniversary,” says Michael Piana. “My passion for art grows with each Bayou City Art Festival, and this year our artists will share in an important milestone celebration.”
The Memorial Park Festival is the perfect setting for families to enjoy the spring weather, arts and crafts, and unique bites from local food vendors. The three-day affair continues to be amongst one of the favorites for Houstonians to attend.
