Saigon House: Fusing Classic Vietnamese Fare With New-School Concepts

Having only been open for a little over a month, Midtown’s brand-new Vietnamese café Saigon House has embodied freshness in a unique, and most importantly, utterly delicious way.

The brainchild of Duc Dinh and chef Vu Tuan Anh, the pair sought to take on a new challenge after the success of their Pearland-based Wrap & Roll eatery. Armed with elements from that endeavor, the result is a menu that fuses classic Vietnamese fare with new-school concepts and techniques implemented in everything from the savory entrees down to the fresh-pressed fruit teas.

Take the Spreggroll, for instance---an unorthodox marriage of the spring roll and the egg roll, the appetizer somehow manages to simultaneously exemplify both an expert creativity and a duh-why-didn’t-I-think-of-that simplicity. Being addictively scrumptious and feather-light on the stomach can certainly only bolster the Spreggroll’s case as a fan favorite, and it’s only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the delectable offerings the menu has available.

So if you find yourself hungry in Midtown and in need of a quick bite to power you through the rest of the work day, stop by Saigon House for the calm, soothing vibes and, of course, lip-smacking lunch options. You’ll have to settle for the mid-day treat, however; for now Saigon House is only open from 10AM-2PM, Monday through Friday. The good news---the restaurant plans to debut its full, expanded menu this winter (with the addition of seasonal selections like Pho) and extend its hours to include dinner until 10PM.
