Am I addicted to Instagram? Perhaps this is something even you’ve been asking yourself lately. It seems like we can’t function without picking up our phone every second of the day to see what our favorite bloggers are up to, to check how many likes we’ve gotten on this morning’s post, or simply to get our beloved much “needed” daily dose of Instagram. But is it really an addiction when it’s part of your job description?
As a full time blogger, part of my job description is to keep my readers up to date on everything that’s going on with my blog. I do this through social media platforms, which of course include Instagram. With Instagram being one of my bigger sources of traffic to the blog, I always make sure that my feed is appealing to the eye. These oh-so-crisp white cool toned pictures you see on my feed don’t just happen, it takes a special amount of time to get them to be just right.
A lot of people don’t understand that as a blogger, a girl is working on building & growing her brand on a daily basis, which means that if I’m brunching with you, I will probably not let you touch your super cute cup of Honey Cinnamon Cappuccino until I’ve gotten a picture! Annoying? Maybe just a bit, but part of the job includes creating beautiful content for all my readers to enjoy or perhaps find some sort of inspiration.
Another thing that keeps me glued to ‘da gram’ and perhaps my favorite one of all, is replying to all the super sweet comments all you ladies leave! If there is anything that I’m incredibly grateful for, is the support and love that I get from every single one of you. Connecting and building friendships with so many of you has got to be one of my favorite things about being on Instagram.
Okay, now I don’t want this to sound like I’m finding every excuse on the book to validate my possible IG addiction. So I must admit that in recent days, or even weeks. I have limited the amount of time I spend scrolling through my feed. I try to just post what I need to post and immediately log off. I will most likely come back a few hours later and reply to all of your comments. I find that this way I am more productive with my work and 100% present in my personal life.
Remember guys, Instagram will always be there! So if you’re feeling like perhaps the addiction has gotten the best of you, put your phones down for at least a couple of hours and enjoy the company of friends & loved ones a little more;)
