On The Scene: Texas Contemporary Art Fair

The Texas Contemporary Art Fair welcomed an estimated 17,000 visitors at the George R Brown this weekend. Art collectors, dealers, and art enthusiast were treated to some of the best contemporary art in the world. 60 galleries participated this year, 43 of which were from different states and countries, showing their latest contemporary works.

The opening reception, which was hosted by Houston socialite Becca Carson Thrash, raised a whopping $25,000 benefiting the CAMH. Tons of art supporters sipped and mingled among some of the best Contemporary art in the world.

The Texas Contemporary Art fair partnered with the Mexican Consulate of Houston to show many works from artists that live in Mexico City. A number of galleries showed Mexican artist for the first time. “A lot of these artists are showing their work for the first time, and are exploring how to communicate in an artistic way that can transcend language barriers”, said on gallerist to a group of people.

Houston’s art scene is growing every year and will only get bigger and better. Below are pics of my favorite works:
