GREG LOWRY PAIRS FINER FOOD AND FUN IN GORGEOUS GATEWAY MEMORIAL CITY GASTROPUB
Punchy Pour Society, the most recent addition to one of the neighborhood’s most exciting blocks – Gateway Memorial City – officially debuts with dinner service on September 1, followed by happy hour and lunch on September 8 and brunch on September 16. The much-anticipated gastropub, helmed by chefs Greg Lowry and longtime cohort Matthew Lovelace, joins existing neighbors KUU, Vallone’s and Churrascos, plus soon-to-open Liberty Kitchen.
Signature starters include Seven Layer with crab, shrimp, guacamole, pinto beans, sour cream, corn, pico and radish; Foie Gras with Texas caviar, arepa and BBQ vinaigrette; and Fried Oysters with bacon aioli, toasted bread, arugula and micro cilantro. Sandwich options pile on the flavor with options that span the Pour’k Burger with a ground chuck and bacon-jam patty, beer cheese and a chile-cheddar bun topped with traditional garnish; Pour’strami, a classic pastrami served between a jalapeno-cheddar waffle; and Texas Bahn Mi with chicken, chicken liver mousse, chow chow, BBQ vinaigrette and Swiss chard.
Entrée highlights include Mexican Fried Chicken Thighs with elote mashed potatoes, white cheddar, green chili sauce and egg; Pour Man’s Filet with teres major, smashed potatoes, green bean pecadine and ancho-whiskey butter; and Catfish Schnitzel served with dirty “fried” rice and charred lemon.
Guests looking for vegetarian-friendly options will also enjoy a range of choices such as Chilled Cucumber & Avocado Soup; Carrot Salad with kale, avocado, chermoula, pistachios and whipped goat cheese; Kim Cheese Sandwich with house made kim chee, pimento and redneck cheddar and Texas toast; The Non-Texan Sandwich with broccoli rabe, scamorza, tomatoes, fried egg, seasonal greens and seedful toast; plus Texas Oyster Mushrooms with squash, onions, corn, pecan mole, oregano and cotija.
On the beverage side, Pour Society puts a focus on fast and friendly service with a myriad of wine and beer, as well as a rotation of four cocktails on tap.
