New Restaurant in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston to Open This Fall

According to Houston Biz Journal, Former owners of the popular Fellini Caffe in Rice Village, Paolo Fronza and Matteo Alessandri, will open a new restaurant in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston this fall.

The new restaurant, MFACafe, will feature northern Italian-inspired fare and take the place of the Cafe Express restaurant located in the Audrey Jones Beck Building.

Cafe Express will host its last day of service on Aug. 1, according to a statement from MFAH. Fronza and Alessandri will open a pop-up cafe in the lobby of the Beck Building on Aug. 4, serving lunch until the brick-and-mortar renovations are complete.

The new restaurant's menu will feature salads, pastas, soups, freshly pressed panini and breakfast options inspired by Fronza and Alessandri's Italian heritage. The owners also intend to open a Europen-style coffee bar and a “menu bambino” for kids.

“At MFACafe, we will aim to deliver the highest quality coffee and authentic food,” Fronza said in a statement. “MFACafe will replicate many of the bars you see in Italy: Guests may sit at a table or the bar to enjoy a fresh pressed panino, grab a quick coffee on the go, or cool off with some delicious freshly squeezed orange juice.”

There will also be a street-level entrance on Binz Street that will allow guests to visit the restaurant outside of museum hours.
